August 26th through September 1st

August 26th through September 1st:  Monday Chris went to work and I started installing the 23 rollout trays in the cabinets in the kitchen.  I also wired the new kitchen circuits into the panel and got everything ready for the new appliances.  The appliances came and I got everything ready for the plumbers that come tomorrow.

The new appliances arrived.

Rollout trays installed.
Every cabinet where we could put a rollout tray got one installed.
More rollout trays.
Tuesday I finished installing the rollout trays in the kitchen and helped the plumbers get the appliances installed by wiring the disposal and dishwasher.  I got a bit frustrated because as we unboxed the dishwasher, the instructions were to cut along a dotted line at the bottom of the box.  Well as you can see in the picture the drain hose was hanging below the dotted line and it got cut in the process.  I immediately left to try and find a new one.  On my third stop I found one at an appliance repair shop here in Bountiful.
Can you see how this became a problem?

When I got back and we started moving the washing machine into the laundry, we realized that it did not have a drain hose attached and we could not find it anywhere.  So I was off again in search of a new drain hose.  Finally, we got the washer and dryer installed.  The plumbers did a great job getting the bathroom, kitchen and laundry room fixtures and appliances installed.   Chris worked four hours and then we went to her company picnic.  She received a $25.00 gift card for getting a good review on social media and she won another $25.00 gift card for guessing how many packages of Kool-aid were in a bottle.  It was a good evening.

Microwave, dishwasher, sink, and disposal installed.
Bathroom fixtures installed.

Washer and Dryer installed.
Wednesday we spent the morning in the temple and enjoyed the peace and the spirit of being in the House of the Lord.  In the afternoon Chris helped me hang cabinet doors in the kitchen.  We got about half of them installed.
Thursday Chris went to work her morning shift and I spent the day installing the backsplash in the kitchen and laundry.  It was a little bit challenging since the tiles had no square edge and every cut had to be done free hand, but it turned out great.
Backsplash installed.
More backsplash.
Laundry room.
Friday John B. helped me finish installing the cabinet doors before he had to go to work.  Mom spent the morning getting us ready and packed for a weekend trip to Mt. Pleasant and the Plein Air Art
Festival in Spring City.  I got the back splash grouted, the cabinet doors adjusted, the knobs and handles installed and the plugs in the back splash installed.
Cabinets doors installed.
Handle and knobs installed.
Electrical finished.
In the afternoon we drove to Mike and Merlene’s home in Mt. Pleasant.  We had dinner with them and then drove to Spring City, only 15 minutes away, and went to the art reception where they announced the winners of the plein air competition.   They had over 100 artists compete.  It was fun to see all the different styles.  Saturday after breakfast, Chris and I drove back to Spring City and walked and drove around and visited all the artist studios that were open to the public as part of the art festival.  It was fun and made us want to have a permanent art studio.  We went back to Mike and Merlene’s home and we were both able to get a nice nap.  After dinner we went out for ice cream.  Sunday before church, we went and visited Paula and Lee Wright.  They are dear friends from the ward we lived in when we had our home in Mt. Pleasant.  We then went to church with Mike and Merlene.  After church, we had lunch and a nice gospel discussion about Paul.  We then had to pack up and drive to James’ house for dinner on our way home to Bountiful.  We so enjoyed out time with Mike and Merlene.
Our good friends Mike and Merlene Ellington.
They are dear friends and we are planning to take a short trip together in the near future.  We also had a nice visit with James and Kirstin and their 3 kidos.  It was a good week and the kitchen is really close to being done.  Now I just have to get the rest of the house finished.
