Day 2 Copacabana

August 14th:  We were up early and had 2 new guides, Luis, who is Israel’s brother, and Rodrigo.  We loaded up the van and headed to Copacabana, which sits on the east coast of Lake Titicaca.

Terracing on the hills surrounding Lake Titicaca.
We stopped on the way to meet the man, Paulino Esteban, who in the 70’s helped Thor Heyerdahl build his reed boat, Ra II.  He now builds reed boats for tourists and to be used on Lake Titicaca.

We had lunch and then checked into our hotel in Copacabana.  We had a short rest and then went for a hike to visit the cathedral and hike the hill that overlooks the city and bay.  We only made it three-quarters of the way.  We then went to dinner.
