Day 3 Island of the Sun

August 15th:  We were up early today for a boat ride to the Island of the Sun. On the boat at 8:30am and then a 2 to 2 ½ hour boat ride in a slow boat on choppy waters.
Here we to go.

The Island of the Sun is the one in the far distance.
Tammy is helping Helen feed the fish.
After arriving at the island we climbed to the top of the island to see the ruins of the temple built by the Incas and the Aymara people who inhabited the area around Lake Titicaca.

We then got back on the boat for another 2 to 2 ½ hour slow ride back to Copacabana.
On the way back we it got warm enough we sat on top of the boat.

We arrived at 1:00pm and went to eat lunch.  After sitting down to order, mom mentioned to the guide that we had to be on the bus to Puno at 1:30pm.  He ended up ordering sandwiches and we almost did not make the bus.  But we did and we then headed to Puno, Peru.
How most of us looked on the bus to Puno.
We crossed the border having to pay to get out of Bolivia, even though we have resident visas.  We arrived in Puno at 4:30pm and checked into a nice hotel and were told to meet at 7:00pm to go to dinner and a folk show.

At 7:20pm I left and went to bed.  Others just left and went to get dinner on their own.  The guide, Luis, finally showed up at 7:35pm.  Pres. Crayk, mom and the Cardons told him everyone had left and they were also just going to go and get something to eat.  We lost an hour when we came to Peru and so no one wanted to eat at 9:30 or 10:00pm.  We were all too tired.  I was also not feeling well.  Lake Titicaca sits at 12,500 feet above sea level.  The elevation is affecting me.  I am getting severe headaches in the middle of the night.
