April 9th through April 15th

April 9th through April 15th:  Monday evening after shopping, we had a nice Family Home Evening.  We said good-bye to Sister Dennis, the MTC nurse, and we welcomed the new nurse, Sister Olsen and a local couple, the Davilas, who have come to serve as temple missionaries for one year.  The Davilas lived in the USA for 25 years, but are both from Guatemala.  They moved into the apartments here a week ago.  We all then told what impressed us about General Conference.  It was fun to see what had touched each person.  The Call’s, missionaries from the Coban Mission, also joined us for FHE.  They will be staying with us for a few days.

Good-bye Sister Dennis, you have served long hours and been so faithful.

Tuesday we went to our paint class and then took the Call’s to Antigua.

We worked a little on our cactus pictures.
Water colors are so much harder than oils.
I started Luke's painting.

The Calls have a daughter coming in a few weeks and wanted to get the lay of the land and of course, we had to take them to see all the chicken buses at the bus station and the artisans market in Antigua.

The market has way too much stuff to look at.  This stall probably has a 1000 huilpiles (blouses).
I sneaked this picture in Antigua.

Wednesday we worked the morning shift and had presidency meeting.  Thursday we worked the afternoon shift.  Friday we had Bishop De Leon, whose wife passed away 2 months ago, and Brother and Sister Rodriguez come to dinner.  Brother Rodriquez  is first counselor in the bishopric and his wife is one of our workers.  We had a nice evening getting to know them better.  Sunday we went to the El Milagro stake conference and it was a wonderful meeting.  President Cordon of the Area presidency presided.  Elder Robert Gonzalez, a new area seventy that was announced in April conference, was also there.  He is one of our temple workers and is a great man.  It was a great meeting and we felt a powerful witness that this is the Lord’s work.

The flowers are incredible.
They transmitted the conference into a few of the classrooms.

We are three cars back on the left.  Needless to say, it took us awhile to get out.
Many of the church parking lots are very small.

We talked to some of our children.  All but Sam and Ginny were at James’ home for Sunday dinner.  James smoked 6 racks of ribs.  It makes us so happy when our children make the effort to get together one Sunday a month.
