April 2nd through April 8th

April 2nd through April 8th:  Monday evening we went over to the MTC with the Jensons and played cards with President and Sister Hill and then watched the first half of the NCAA Championship.  We didn’t stay for the whole game because we had the early morning shift and needed to get to bed.  It is always fun to be with the Hill’s.  Wednesday President and Sister Faundez from the Coban mission came and stayed with us.  They have a group coming from the Sa'jomte branch in the Polochic with 2 families to receive their endowments and then be sealed.  It was great to see them again and have them stay with us.
Brother Carranza, our assistant recorder had a couple of visitors.

On Thursday I asked my new counselor to do the sealing in Kekchi.  He is from Coban and grew up on his grandfather’s farm and all the workers and their children spoke only Kekchi and so he learned to speak Kekchi as a little boy.

Words can't describe the joy everyone feels when families become eternal.
There were 6 children sealed to their parents in this family.
It was so fun to be a part of their special day.
Mom and Sister and President Faundez.

Saturday we changed shifts and took the early morning shift so that we would be free in the afternoon to attend the baptism of our grandson Luke, one of Charlotte and Alex’s boys.  It was fun to watch the meeting and the baptism via Face-Time.  Charlotte asked permission for us to be able to be present via the internet.  Don’t you love technology?

This is the photo I am going to use for his oil painting.
One of the many couples that were sealed on Saturday.  We were just leaving our shift and got this picture.  Their joy is real.

Sunday we took all the missionaries to our monthly “Break the Fast” dinner at the area offices.  It is always fun to be with so many great people.  It was a great week to be a missionary.

We always have plenty to eat at Break the Fast.
We had about 30 people for our dinner.
Elder and Sister Hogge, serving in the dental clinic.  We will miss them.  They leave next month and this was probably the last time we will see them before they leave.

We feel so blest and we are still basking in the spirit of general conference.  I have studied and reread President Nelson’s Sunday morning talk and I can’t stop thinking about something he said.  “Our Savior and Redeemer, Jesus Christ, will perform some of His mightiest works between now and when He comes again. We will see miraculous indications that God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, preside over this Church in majesty and glory. But in coming days, it will not be possible to survive spiritually without the guiding, directing, comforting, and constant influence of the Holy Ghost.” This statement is a wakeup call for me to learn how to feel the influence of the Holy Ghost more and to make Him really my constant companion.  I want to survive spiritually in the coming years.
