February 5th through February 11th

February 5th through February 11th:  Monday we took Brother and Sister Gordon and attended the funeral service for Sister Gloria De Leon.  There were many temple workers and ward members there.  We gave the Holman’s and the sister missionaries a ride home.
The hearse ready to take Sister De Leon to the cemetery.
We worked all the morning shifts this last week so that we could have the week of the 19th through the 24th off to spend time with our son and grandson, John B. and Badger, who are coming to visit us.  Friday after our shift, I took a nap to try and get a little sleep.  Then at 9:00pm we went back to the temple.  The Rodriguez family had made an appointment to do baptisms all night long.  They had been researching their family for over a year and had more than 3000 names.  They brought a group of about 30 people and I assigned different missionaries to come and do a 2 hour shift so that there was a coordinator in the baptistery all night long. I did all the recording.  I thought I would be able to get a cat-nap once or twice during the night, but I was busy all night long.  We had another group for the baptistery arrive at 5:00 am.  The Rodriguez family was amazing and never stopped the whole night through.  They were not able to do all their names, but made a big dent in the amount of names they had ready.
Taken just after 9:00 pm before we started our all night baptismal session.
Our regular shift started at 4:00 am and was supposed to finish at noon, but President Rosales came in 2 hours early so we were able to go home and get some sleep.  After a nap we went to a party for the temple workers on the Saturday mid-day shift.

The Yanes family and mom.  They have been long time temple workers.
We then went to the adult session at the Villa Nueva stake where we were both able to share a message.  We got home about 8:30 pm.

Sunday we went back to the Villa Nueva stake for the Sunday general session.  I was really happy with our talks and the Spirit testified of our Savior and that the temple is His house.

Mom took the Holman’s and the Jenson’s to choir practice for stake conference which is next week.  We had a great week and it was so fun to work in the temple all night and into the next day.  I hope they come back another night and finish their names before we go home.  Our recorder, Brother Abadillo, told mom that one of the things he has learned from me is to never say, “no”.  I try to accommodate any reasonable request.  So when Brother Rodriguez asked if they could come and do baptisms all night long, I said, “Sure, let’s do it”.

All night long! Those deeds are the ones each humble Temple President should have. You know that you are there to help the Lord by serving his children. There are not many like you. Others think, they are Temple presidents so they can brag and boss around. May God never let you change. I am thankful for the privilege of being your friends and for having met you while you both were serving in Bolivia.
You can face our creator and surely say you were willing to walk the extra mile. Oscar and I love you dearly. And hope to see you at least one more time.
