January 25th through January 31st

January 25th through January 31st:  Monday we had to go to immigration and have our pictures taken.  We spent 2 ½ hours waiting for the computers to come back on line.  When we got back, we drove with the Rosales’ and the Hurst’s to Chimaltanengo to visit Lidia Zamora, one of our temple workers who has cancer and is really sick.  We did not get to see her; she was in too much pain, so we had a prayer with the family.  It was good that we went to support her husband, who is one of our sealers.  They are good people and have been temple workers for many years and served a temple mission in Cochabamba, Bolivia.  We went to lunch/dinner at a restaurant that is 20 kilometers past Chimaltanengo.  It was really good food.  The picture of the plate of food will tell the story.

Waiting for our lunch. L to R Elder and Sister Hurst, Pres. and Sister Rosales, and mom and me.
Meat lovers platter, so delicious.

We got back in time for Family Home Evening.  We had 17 attend.  We enjoy getting together and sharing all our adventures.  Tuesday we had the afternoon shift and did not get finished until 10:30pm.  We had a full session at 7:15pm and one almost full at 7:30pm.  Wednesday we had presidency meeting in the morning and since we did not have a shift and we did not get to go shopping on Monday, we did our shopping in the afternoon.  Thursday we had the morning shift.  We spent the afternoon doing family history.  The temple had some extra computer screens, so I had them add a screen to mom’s and my computers.  Family history is so much easier to do with 2 screens. They had to buy a new video card for my computer.

2 screens, this is heaven.

Friday we spent the morning doing family history again. Mom is spending a lot of time doing family history also.  She has about 50 names ready to print.  We then went to the temple for the afternoon shift.    Saturday I tried to go over to do some initiatory, but had to come home because the temple was full.  That is a good thing.  We worked on a talk book that each of us wants to make to have all of our ideas in one place so when we have to speak on the spur of the moment we have what we need.  We talked to some of the kids.  Sunday we had to leave at 7:00am to go to a stake conference.  There was a marathon that was going to close down both directions of street in front of the temple and if we didn’t get past the barricades by 7:30am we would have not been able to go anywhere.  We had problems getting to the stake center because the streets were blocked off there also.  “Lola”, our GPS, finally found a route past all the closed streets and we arrived at 7:35am.  Mom spent some time getting a talk ready.  Elder Alonso and Elder Morales were there to reorganize the stake presidency.  When I found that out, I knew we would not be called on to speak.  Brother Carranza, our assistant recorder, was one of the outgoing counselors and he was made the new stake president.  However, we were both called on to bear our testimonies.  It was a very nice meeting and we both enjoyed attending.

Stake Conference at Las Victorias stake.

Choir practicing before the meeting.
I spent the afternoon taking a nice nap and doing more family history.  I printed about 100 names.  It was a good week with a number of nice experiences in the temple.  We love our assignment.  We love the temple and we love the Lord, Jesus Christ.  We are so blessed to serve in His house.
