October 31st through November 6th

October 31st through November 6th:  After our morning trip to Walmart and Price Smart we decided to take all the missionaries to Mega Paca—an enormous Good Will/Deseret Industries store. ( See the post October 17th through October 23rd to read about Mega Paca.)  We had a contest to see who could find the best deal.  We had a number of winners.  I was especially proud of my sign that explains how I have lost so much weight, because many people have asked how I have done it.
The May's found an olive wood statue of Christ.  Under the price tag of 85 Quetz (about 11.00 dollars) was a price tag for 99.00 dollars.  They won best deal.
Elder Fillmore won for best article of clothing.  The shirt is covered with mosquitos and the word OFF.
My sign won for most inspirational item.
We then drove everyone to the movie.  We saw “The Queen of Katwe”.  On the way out of the movies, the mall was packed with kids trick or treating at all the stores in the mall.
At the mall they had other activities for the kids.
A great big slide.
Saturday we had a big group from Coban at the temple.  Mom wanted to say good-bye to them, so she went out and thanked them for their visit and had some pictures taken with them.

After our shift finished, we went to dinner with all the missionaries.  I know another picture of us eating isn’t that interesting, but we can’t take pictures of much else.
Dinner Saturday night.  L to R.  Frampton's, Winkfield's, Hurst's, Jones', visiting from Idaho, Fillmore's, mom, and the May's
Sunday we went and spoke at the Villa Hermosa stake conference.  It was a very nice meeting and we felt uplifted to be with the so many faith filled people.

On the way home, we passed a Santa Claus Parade with a marching band and of course Santa and his elves.  We have no idea what that was about, but we assume it was a shopping promotion.

Sunday afternoon I went to the temple and had a training meeting with all of our sealers.  They are a great group of men and I enjoy serving with them.  Two of them have been sealers since the temple was dedicated 32 years ago.  Then we went to the area offices for the monthly “Break the Fast” dinner.  It is fun to get together with all the other senior missionaries that are serving here in Guatemala City.
Sunday dinner at the area offices.
We got a Skype call from President Pena and his wife, who we served with in Oaxaca.  They have just finished their first week as President and Matron of the Merida Temple in Mexico.  It was wonderful to talk to them and they had a few questions.  We talked for about 30 minutes.  They will be great and we love them dearly.  We finished the week by talking to some of our children and grandchildren.  We love them so much and at times it is hard to not be able to cuddle and hug them, but we feel so blessed to be here and to be able to serve in the House of the Lord.
The flowers in front of the MTC are in full bloom.

As always it is so nice to read your blog. I loved your finding the shut your mouth if you want to lose weight sign?
It seems like you ate always having soooo much fun. And you are very clever organizing games outings and so on. I can' wait to be there and we can also be part of the fun.
