March 7th through March 13th

March 7th through March 13th:  Monday we did the usual P-day things and finished up the day with a farewell Family Home Evening for the Wilson’s.  They still have a few weeks, but they shared with us what they have learned on their mission.  They are both devoted temple workers and will be sorely missed.  They both shared their testimonies and Elder Wilson expressed his gratitude for the change in policy which allows youth to come to the temple whenever they want to in order to perform vicarious baptisms.  Before they could only come with their ward or stake and Elder Wilson found it very hard to turn them away.  Now that the youth can receive their own temple recommends, they can come as frequently as they want, just like adults.

Sadly, we got word this week that the Winkfield’s will probably not be coming in April.  They had lined up Eve’s sister to stay in their house and help their son who would live downstairs.  They found out the sister has stage 4 cancer and with treatment, has maybe a year to live and without treatment has about 6 months.  Life can be hard and throws us a few curve balls now and then.  Our prayers are with Ken and Eve and their family.  Tuesday we had the evening shift and we finished up just after 10:00pm.  Wednesday I went over early and did some initiatory and then got ready for presidency meeting.  Thursday we had the morning shift.  Friday we had the afternoon shift and we had a number of stakes come and celebrate the birthday of the Relief Society.  We had 10 sessions and most were full.  It is the busiest I have seen the temple on a Friday afternoon.  Saturday I again went over and did initiatory in the morning.  I have so many names being held up in initiatory.  Mom went to the stake celebration of the Relief Society in the afternoon

and then we finished up the evening by taking the Wilson’s out for their farewell dinner.

Sunday we went to the Palmita stake conference.  Elder Duncan presided.  It was a reorganization of the stake presidency, so we only were asked to bear our testimonies.  It was a wonderful stake conference and we enjoyed the Spirit of the meeting.

We talked to all the kids except James.  They all seem to be doing fine and we feel so blessed.  The more I am here and see how difficult life is for many of the members in Guatemala, the more I realize just how blessed we are as a family.
